3rd Annual Fox Valley All Volkswagen Show
Van Dyn Hoven Imports
Appleton, WI
Saturday, August 3, 2002

Sponsored by Northern Wisconsin Chapter (NWVC) of Vintage Volkswagen Club of America
and Van Dyn Hoven Imports, Appleton.

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the show and helped make it happen. It wouldn't come together without the help of the club members who work the day of the show. Thanks to everyone who played a part in the show. A big thank you to Howard and his family for hosting our campout and corn roast. The club had a great time camping at Howard's VW Farm. A few of the Chippewa Valley Volkswagen Club members from the Eau Claire area, joined us late on Friday night.

If you came as a spectator, we appreciate your support of the show and our hobby. This year we had a couple extra hurdles to tackle. First when the watercooled club decided to bail out on us a few months prior to the show and then when Mr. Kiley advised a few days before the show he wouldn't be able to make his appearance due to a business comittment. We went ahead anyway and had a fantastic show.

There were 81 VWs registered for the show and 7 vendors/swappers. That is 11 more VWs registered than last year but 20 down from the first year. Obviously, the watercooled crowd went to Treffen in Chicago as they did last year but we did have a fair amount of watercooled show up anyway. The aircooled numbers have increased each
year of the show. I saw quite a few VWs parked along the frontage road that should have been entered. Some of folks I talked to said they couldn't stay long so that is why they didn't register.

The dealership was busy most of the day with test drivers and they sold a few cars on Saturday as well. I would have to say our show was an overall success. The show went well, but as with everything there is always room for improvement and we will be taking a look at what worked and what didn't. I hope that everyone who attended had an enjoyable time. Hope to see you again next year. If you were unable to attend be sure to put it on your calendar for next year.

Thanks for keeping the VW hobby alive in Northern Wisconsin.
