4th Annual Chippewa Valley VW Club's 2002 Car Show & Swap
June 22, 2002

The Eau Claire folks didn't escape the rain that went across Wisconsin this weekend. It rained all day Friday on my way to Eau Claire and then that night lighting struck the chain link fence by the camping area. Luckily, Ralph(57 Oval) and I were about a mile away at a hotel. Ralph and I joined the Eau Claire club on the Friday night cruise and enjoyed some of the local sights and cuisine.

The show on Saturday started out a little slow but by the end of the day there
were a fair number of Dubs in attendance. We later found out that due to
flooding, some of highways were closed that morning so I'm sure that affected
their attendance. There were some beautiful Dubs on display, ones that you
don't see at our local shows.

There was also a Llama show going on that day, too. I went over to watch some
of their show for a little while to see what it was all about. After watching
them, I thought to myself they're not much different than we are. They are
crazy about their Llamas and we are crazy about our VWs.

The CVVC's new show location is wonderful. Plenty of room and on grass. The Car City dealership is right across the street. The County Expo Grounds offer a lot. There are buildings for shelter, nice bathrooms (flushable toliets), and showers. It is located just off of  I-94 by Hwy 93.

A wonderful weekend even though the weather wasn't the greatest. I was happy to be able to enjoy the club's festivities. It was great to see everyone again
and to meet new friends.
