- Solex Carburetor Repair - Richard Carey is a professional
rebuilder of Solex carburetors for use on all carbureted models of VW. He
believes that the German made Solex is a much better choice than what is
available today from Mexico and Brazil. The problem with the old German
carbs is that over the years the throttle shaft wears out the soft
aluminum bushings allowing air to leak through, essentially making the
carb useless. He has solved this problem and improved on the original
design by milling out the old aluminum bushings and inserting much better
wearing brass bushings. This restores the bushings to original specs and
the brass bushing will ensure that the shaft does not wear the bushings
for a much, much longer time than the original bushings. Richard is
located in Madison, WI. Richard has an ad on www.thesamba.com that provides all of the details and costs. Click
here.

Newsgroups are another way to meet enthusiasts as well as find answers to
questions you have. There are many newsgroups and I will add links here for the
ones I am made aware of. Note that some newsgroups have their own special
"Frequent Questions & Answers" posting. You should read a group
for a while or search their archives before posting questions, because the answers may already be
present and it gives you a chance to see how the group behaves.
If you are looking for help fixing your Dub, try some of these websites. Even
if you aren't the mechanical type, learn about the procedures to help keep
your VW happy and healthy. You can also try typing in your problem in a web
search and see what links come up.
